Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
1. Overview
Edit On Fly ("we", "our", or "the Service") is a free, browser-based PDF editing tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect (and what we do not collect), how we use it, and your rights.
The short version: we collect almost no data, and your files never leave your device.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any of the following:
- Your PDF files or their contents
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Payment information (we charge nothing, ever)
- Account credentials (no accounts exist on this service)
- Browsing history or behavioral profiles
All file processing happens entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript. No file data is sent to any server.
3. Information We May Collect
Like almost all websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard server-access logs, which can include:
- Your IP address (anonymised where possible)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Date and time of your visit
- Pages viewed
This information is used solely for operational purposes (security monitoring, uptime analysis) and is not linked to any personal identity.
4. Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.
Your browser may store minimal technical data (such as local storage entries) solely to preserve your in-session editor state. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
5. Third-Party Services
We do not share any data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or analytics purposes.
The Service may use open-source libraries (such as PDF.js and pdf-lib) that run entirely within your browser. These libraries have no access to our servers.
6. Data Security
Because we do not collect or store your files or personal data, there is no central database that could be compromised. Your files exist only in your browser memory for the duration of your session and are discarded when you close the tab.
7. Children's Privacy
This Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please open an issue on our project repository or contact us through the information provided on our website.
